Huh? What? This is a thing? Yes it sure is!
We are in need of fashion revolution. The fashion industry is exploitive of people and the environment. It is hurting valuable people and damaging our world. But the damage being done is hiding behind our desire for more clothing, new clothing, and under use of clothing.
We need to create a more transparent industry that includes fair wages, good working conditions, less waste, and less greed on all fronts. We don’t need nearly as much as we consume and we need to be conscious of what we are consuming.
So what is FashRev Week?
Falling on April 24-30, 2017, this is a week where the global movement for a fashion revolution whats to bring more awareness to the issues we are facing. It is a week to commemorate what happened in the Rana Plaza fire of 2013 and to demand that something like this doesn’t happen again. So how can we participate?
We can start to do this by asking, “who made my clothes?” Ask the companies and brands you buy from, reach out to them with a photo and see what response you get back. You can show them your label and ask for more information!
Use this week to think about who made your clothes. Take a selfie (like above) showing your clothing tag, tag the brand on Instagram or Facebook and add the hashtag #whomademyclothes
What difference can you make?
